Hides and Skins: Net sales of 298,600 pieces for 2015 were down 23 percent from the previous week and 27 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 298,400 pieces were primarily for China (166,300 pieces), South Korea (77,200 pieces), Italy (17,300 pieces), Mexico (16,800 pieces), and Taiwan (14,100 pieces). Exports of 402,600 pieces were up 38 percent from the previous week and 2 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 399,900 pieces were primarily to China (250,900 pieces), South Korea (87,500 pieces), Taiwan (19,100 pieces), Mexico (14,900 pieces), and Italy (14,400 pieces).
Net sales of 133,900 wet blues for 2015 were up 50 percent from the previous week, but down 5 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Mexico (50,200 grain splits), China (39,000 unsplit and 1,600 grain splits), and Italy (32,500 unsplit). Decreases were reported for Bangladesh (2,600 grain splits), Italy (500 grain splits), and Mexico (200 unsplit). Net sales of 600 wet blues for 2016 resulted as increases for Bangladesh (2,600 grain splits), were partially offset by decreases for India (2,000 unsplit). Exports of 119,900 wet blues were primarily to Italy (34,100 unsplit and 11,700 grain splits), China (31,600 unsplit and 4,600 grain splits), Mexico (11,000 grain splits and 3,900 unsplit), and South Korea (5,400 grain splits and 3,000 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 191,500 pounds for 2015 resulted as increases for South Korea (417,600 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for Italy (214,100 pounds), China (11,500 pounds), and Taiwan (600 pounds). Net sales of splits totaling 204,700 pounds for 2016 were for Italy. Exports of 403,800 pounds were reported to Italy (201,200 pounds), China (126,300 pounds), and South Korea (76,300 pounds).
