Hides and Skins: Net sales of 466,300 pieces for 2015, all whole cattle hides, were up 3 percent from the previous week and 21 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (325,500 pieces), South Korea (66,500 pieces), Thailand (20,400 pieces), Mexico (18,800 pieces), Italy (18,000 pieces), and Taiwan (10,200 pieces). Exports of 336,200 pieces were down 30 percent from the previous week and 13 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 333,500 pieces were primarily to China (188,000 pieces), South Korea (89,300 pieces), Mexico (24,900 pieces), Taiwan (15,600 pieces), and Thailand (9,000 pieces).
Net sales of 81,900 wet blues for 2015 were up noticeably from the previous week and 6 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for China (34,500 unsplit and 25,200 grain splits), Vietnam (11,500 unsplit), Italy (7,900 unsplit), and Taiwan (1,600 grain splits). Net sales reductions of 5,900 wet blues for 2016 were for China (3,000 unsplit), Taiwan (1,600 grain splits), and India (1,3000 unsplit). Exports of 95,500 wet blues were primarily to China (23,100 unsplit and 14,900 grain splits), Vietnam (22,900 unsplit), Italy (10,800 unsplit and 1,500 grain splits), and Thailand (8,500 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 80,900 pounds for 2015 resulted as increases for Hong Kong (100,000 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for South Korea (10,600 pounds), China (8,100 pounds), and Taiwan (400 pounds). Net sales reductions of splits totaling 1,900 pounds for 2016 were for Italy. Exports of 632,600 pounds were reported to South Korea (482,600 pounds), Taiwan (100,000 pounds), and Hong Kong (50,000 pounds).
