Hides and Skins: Net sales of 513,600 pieces for 2015, all whole cattle hides, were up 31 percent from the previous week and 20 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for China (321,300 pieces), South Korea (82,900 pieces), Mexico (48,400 pieces), Thailand (22,800 pieces), Italy (15,000 pieces), and Vietnam (11,600 pieces). Exports of 326,000 pieces, all whole cattle hides, were down 23 percent from the previous week and 19 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (161,400 pieces), South Korea (106,600 pieces), Mexico (20,300 pieces), Italy (19,400 pieces), and Thailand (7,000 pieces).
Net sales of 166,300 wet blues for 2015 were down 33 percent from the previous week, but up 60 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Vietnam (63,300 unsplit), China (41,200 unsplit and 5,600 grain splits), Mexico (32,200 grain splits and 8,900 unsplit), and Italy (10,400 unsplit). For 2016, net sales reductions of 94,400 wet blues were for Taiwan (58,100 unsplit), China (26,000 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (8,000 unsplit), and India (2,300 unsplit). Exports of 117,900 wet blues were up 37 percent from the previous week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (39,900 unsplit and 7,500 grain splits), Vietnam (20,000 unsplit), Italy (7,200 unsplit and 5,400 grain splits), and South Korea (11,100 grain splits). Net sales of splits totaling 566,800 pounds for 2015 were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were South Korea (318,800 pounds), Hong Kong (150,000 pounds), Cambodia (50,000 pounds), and China (30,500 pounds). For 2016, net sales reductions of 900 pounds were for Italy. Exports of 1,455,300 pounds were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were South Korea (873,600 pounds), Taiwan (202,600 pounds), Hong Kong (200,000 pounds), and China (129,200 pounds).
