Hides and Skins: Net sales of 471,300 pieces for 2015, were down 8 percent from the previous week, but up 3 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 443,100 pieces were primarily for China (281,500 pieces), South Korea (86,700 pieces), Mexico (45,100 pieces), and Thailand (11,700 pieces). Exports of 359,400 pieces, were up 10 percent from the previous week, but down 8 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports totaling 358,000 pieces were primarily to China (200,900 pieces), South Korea (103,900 pieces), Mexico (25,900 pieces), Thailand (9,200 pieces), and Taiwan (8,500 pieces).
Net sales of 106,300 wet blues for 2015 were down 36 percent from the previous week and 19 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Italy (47,500 unsplit), Taiwan (20,000 unsplit), China (10,000 unsplit and 5,500 grain splits), and Vietnam (9,600 unsplit). Decreases were reported for South Korea (200 grain splits) and Mexico (100 grain splits and 100 unsplit). Exports of 83,000 wet blues were down 30 percent from the previous week and 19 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (21,000 unsplit and 5,700 grain splits), Vietnam (17,900 unsplit), Italy (9,600 unsplit and 5,400 grain splits), and Mexico (8,900 grain splits and 800 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 1,119,000 pounds for 2015 were up 97 percent from the previous week and up noticeably from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Taiwan (723,100 pounds), South Korea (385,600 pounds), and China (10,300 pounds). For 2016, net sales reductions of 4,200 pounds were for Italy. Exports of 795,100 pounds were down 45 percent from the previous week, but up 8 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destination was South Korea.
