Whole cattle hide sales of 268,600 pieces were primarily for China (146,200 pieces), Thailand (35,000 pieces), South Korea (33,500 pieces), Mexico (15,200 pieces), and Taiwan (12,800 pieces). Decreases were reported for Indonesia (1,200 pieces). Exports of 458,400 pieces were up 12 percent from the previous week and 23 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports totaling 448,000 pieces were primarily to China (275,900 pieces), South Korea (90,700 pieces), Mexico (27,000 pieces), Thailand (22,200 pieces), and Japan (8,200 pieces).
Net sales of 141,600 wet blues for 2015 were down 65 percent from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for China (67,000 grain splits and 8,500 unsplit), Italy (27,500 unsplit and 25,700 grain splits), and Vietnam (8,600 unplit). Decreases were reported for South Korea (600 unsplit), Mexico (200 grain splits and 100 unsplit), and Japan (100 grain splits). Net sales reductions of 33,200 pieces for 2015 were reported for South Korea (30,800 unsplit) and Taiwan (2,400 unsplit). Exports of 133,000 wet blues were up 2 percent from the previous week and 28 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (44,400 unsplit and 7,200 grain splits), China (19,500 unsplit and 6,400 grain splits), Vietnam (18,200 unsplit), and Mexico (10,200 grain splits and 1,700 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 426,600 pounds for 2015 resulted as increases for Taiwan (427,900 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for South Korea (1,200 pounds). For 2016, net sales reductions of 474,400 pounds were for South Korea (458,700 pounds), Italy (13,900 pounds), and China (1,800 pounds). Exports of 948,700 pounds were down 4 percent from the previous week, but up 44 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destination was South Korea.
