Hides and Skins: Net sales of 517,100 pieces for 2015, were up 93 percent from the previous week, but down 3 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 510,600 pieces were primarily for China (268,900 pieces), South Korea (175,400 pieces), Mexico (24,600 pieces), Thailand (17,300 pieces), and Italy (14,100 pieces). Decreases were reported for Turkey (100 pieces). Exports of 430,200 pieces, all whole cattle hides, were down 6 percent from the previous week, but up 8 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (241,000 pieces), South Korea (96,500 pieces), Mexico (30,100 pieces), Italy (19,900 pieces), Thailand (13,900 pieces), and Taiwan (10,700 pieces).
Net sales of 161,200 wet blues for 2015 were up 14 percent from the previous week, but down 11 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for China (48,900 unsplit and 24,800 grain splits), the Dominican Republic (25,600 unsplit), Mexico (17,800 unsplit and 6,600 grain splits), Vietnam (16,700 unsplit). Decreases were reported for Japan (500 grain splits) and Italy (400 grain splits). Net sales reductions of 4,000 pieces for 2016 were reported for Taiwan (3,000 unsplit) and India (1,000 unsplit). Exports of 161,500 wet blues were up 22 percent from the previous week and 39 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (44,800 unsplit and 14,300 grain splits), China (35,500 unsplit and 14,200 grain splits), Mexico (17,500 grain splits and 2,000 unsplit), and Vietnam (12,800 unsplit and 1,100 grain splits). Net sales of splits totaling 443,700 pounds for 2015 resulted as increases for South Korea (411,800 pounds) and Hong Kong (200,000 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for Taiwan (168,100 pounds). For 2016, net sales of 261,400 pounds were for Taiwan (216,000 pounds), China (28,800 pounds), and Italy (16,600 pounds). Exports of 613,600 pounds were down 35 percent from the previous week and 12 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destination was South Korea.
