U.S. EXPORT SALES FOR WEEK ENDING 8/20/2015
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 211,100 pieces for 2015, were down 59 percent from the previous week and 61 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 211,400 pieces were primarily for China (130,200 pieces), South Korea (34,300 pieces), Vietnam (13,100 pieces), Mexico (11,300 pieces), and Taiwan (9,400 pieces). Exports of 520,700 pieces were up 21 percent from the previous week and 25 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 515,900 pieces–a marketing-year high–were primarily to China (336,000 pieces), South Korea (101,100 pieces), Thailand (19,200 pieces), Mexico (18,700 pieces), and Taiwan (14,000 pieces).
Net sales of 129,700 wet blues for 2015 were down 20 percent from the previous week and 33 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Mexico (26,300 unsplit and 15,500 grain splits), Vietnam (28,200 unsplit and 100 grain splits), China (22,000 unsplit and 2,800 grain splits)and Thailand (12,000 unsplit). Exports of 180,000 wet blues were up 11 percent from the previous week and 36 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (31,300 unsplit and 18,800 grain splits), Italy (34,800 unsplit and 12,800 grain splits), Vietnam (28,700 unsplit and 3,700 grain splits), and Mexico (17,000 grain splits and 6,200 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 109,600 pounds for 2015 reported for South Korea (130,100 pounds), Taiwan (27,600 pounds), and China (2,000 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for Hong Kong (50,000 pounds). For 2016, net sales of 24,200 pounds were for Taiwan (41,200 pounds) and Italy (6,600 pounds). Decreases were reported for China (23,600 pounds). Exports of 560,000 pounds were down 9 percent from the previous week and 21 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Taiwan (244,600 pounds), South Korea (165,400 pounds), and Hong Kong (150,000 pounds).
