Hide Market

Sales of U.S. hides appeared to have continued at the same pace they have maintained for the last three to four weeks.  U.S. Steer hide suppliers again had few, if any, Heavy Native or Butt Brands on their offer lists. Things were slow for the U.S. hide market last week, but the lack of volume did not hurt U.S. Steer hide values. Last week got off to a slow start as many have recently. U.S. Packers, Dealers and Hide Traders, had a limited number Steer hides on their offering lists last week.  Most of those Steer hide offerings were $1.00 to $2.00 higher than the prior week’s sales levels.
