Hides and Skins: Net sales of 450,800 pieces, all whole cattle hides, for 2015 were up 12 percent from the previous week and 12 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were South Korea (214,400 pieces), China (163,300 pieces), Mexico (33,100 pieces), Japan (10,800 pieces), Indonesia (10,800 pieces), and Taiwan (5,600 pieces). Exports of 482,900 pieces were up 33 percent from the previous week and 30 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 477,600 pieces were primarily to China (282,000 pieces), South Korea (116,700 pieces), Taiwan (25,700 pieces), Mexico (23,100 pieces), and Italy (11,800 pieces).
Net sales of 26,300 wet blues for 2015 were down 56 percent from the previous week and 66 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for India (8,400 grain splits), China (5,700 grain splits and 2,100 unsplit), Italy (7,100 unsplit), and Vietnam (2,300 unsplit). Exports of 107,500 wet blues were primarily to China (29,100 unsplit and 24,400 grain splits), Italy (17,100 unsplit), Mexico (11,200 grain splits and 3,000 unsplit), and Vietnam (8,700 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 184,900 pounds for 2015 were for Taiwan (102,700 pounds), South Korea (71,200 pounds), and China (11,100 pounds). Net sales of splits totaling 13,500 pounds for 2016 were for Italy. Exports of 848,100 pounds were reported to South Korea.
