Hides and Skins: Net sales of 393,100 pieces for 2015 were down 16 percent from the previous week and 3 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 393,300 pieces were primarily for China (216,900 pieces), South Korea (80,700 pieces), Taiwan (37,900 pieces), Mexico (33,200 pieces), Italy (10,600 pieces), and Thailand (5,400 pieces). Decreases were reported for Pakistan (100 pieces). Exports of 423,000 pieces were up 26 percent from the previous week and 7 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 417,500 pieces were primarily to China (261,600 pieces), South Korea (107,500 pieces), Mexico (18,900 pieces), Taiwan (9,100 pieces), Japan (8,300 pieces), and Thailand (6,100 pieces).
Net sales of 248,000 wet blues for 2015 were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Italy (93,600 unsplit and 49,000 grain splits), South Korea (36,000 grain splits and 1,200 unsplit), China (16,400 unsplit and 9,500 grain splits), and the Dominican Republic (24,000 unsplit). Net sales reductions of 4,800 wet blues for 2016 were for Taiwan. Exports of 86,300 wet blues were primarily to China (22,400 unsplit and 10,600 grain splits), Mexico (16,700 grain splits and 2,000 unsplit), Italy (13,000 unsplit and 3,400 grain splits), and Vietnam (8,000 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 225,700 pounds for 2015 were reported for South Korea (151,300 pounds), China (74,000 pounds), and Taiwan (500 pounds). Net sales of splits totaling 2,500 pounds for 2016 were for Italy. Exports of 6,000 pounds were reported to South Korea.
